Rates for Different Product Groups
-
Different shipping rates for each of your dropship vendors.
Example:
- Your products available for free shipping
- Vendor A with real-time rates UPS Ground and USPS Priority from zip code 11111.
- Vendor B shipping apples for $5.00 per apple / $2.00 each additional apple, and $6.00 per peach / $3.00 each additional peach.
- Vendor C shipping all products based on a weight table.
- Vendor D with real-time rates from FedEx from zip code 22222.
- Vendor E with shipping based on 5% of product total, with a $5.00 minimum.
-
Printful, Printify, and Pixels real-time shipping rates combined with rates for your own products.
The app integrates directly with Printful, Printify, and Pixels shipping APIs.
When a customer orders only products from one of these services they will see options for all the available rates from each service.
When a customer orders products from one of these services AND from another product group, the preferred shipping method ( or cheapest ) shipping method that you select for each service will be combined with the preferred methods set for the other product groups in an order.
-
On-demand fulfillment providers like Scalable Press, teelaunch, Modalyst, Gooten, flat rates combined with your rates for your own products.
While we don't have integrations for every on-demand product provider yet, you can still configure unique shipping rules for their products in your shop.
Instead of using a real-time rate API, you can use the flat rates / table rates they publish for each product type.
Each provider can be set-up as a fulfillment service in the app. Each product type, with its respective shipping rates, can then be set-up as a product group within that fulfillment service.
-
Flat/table based rates for heavy items, carrier rates regular items.
Because some items are too heavy to ship with standard carriers, you need to charge flat rates based on weight, price, or per item.
The app lets you create a product group ( or many different product groups ) for your heavy items, and apply table based rates to them instead of carrier rates.
You will select a preferred carrier method from your regular products to use when they are ordered with the heavy items.
If a customer purchases a regular item with a heavy item, the shipping price will be the flat rate for the heavy item added together with the rate of the preferred method selected for your regular items.
We also have a feature "Blending Rules", that allows you to charge only the heavy item shipping when both heavy items and regular items are in an order.
-
Restrict some products from being ordered to specific shipping zones.
The app has a feature, that is enabled by default, called ‘Rate Failure’. This means if a given product group has no shipping rates configured for a given shipping zone, our will not return any rates whatsoever, thus preventing your customer from completing a checkout.

-
Different package dimensions for different group of products
Shopify’s built in shipping settings only allow you to specify one package size that is used in every carrier rate calculation.
In our app, each group of products get its own list of carrier methods and within each distinct carrier method you can specify unique package dimensions.
Our package settings allow you to even specify how many products within a product group should fit into one package, before splitting into a new package.
-
Exclude some products from free shipping
Many shops offer free shipping on their items, but sometimes there are a few exceptions, and you want to be able to add a shipping charge to some items.
For your default product group you can configure a free shipping rule. You then can create an additional product group ( or many product groups ) and assign what ever appropriate shipping rates you want to charge for them.
Your customer will only be charged shipping if they have a non-free shipping product in their order.
-
Offer a reduced local delivery charge for some products and not others.
Available in the Pro plan is the ability to create postal code sub-zones, this allows you to set reduced / free shipping rates for a local delivery style option to only certain product groups.
Our app doesn’t have advanced local delivery options like choosing the delivery date or scheduling a time. But, if you simply want to offer a lower shipping price for certain products to your local zones you can.
Rule Based Rates
-
First Item / Each Additional Item
This rule type is commonly used by on-demand product providers. This rule type can be added as the rate for a specific group of products.
Example 1:
- First item in group ships for $10, each additional item in group ships for $5.
- 4 items within a product group are ordered. The shipping will be $10 + $5 + $5 + $5 = $25
Example 2:
- First item in group ships for $10, each additional item in group ships for $10. This would set each product in a group to ship for $10.
- 4 items within a product group are ordered. The shipping will be $10 + $10 + $10 + $10 = $40
-
First Lbs. / Each Additional Lbs.
This rule type can be used as a shorthand for charging shipping by weight, without having to program a large weight table. This is useful when you have a really wide range of weights within a product group.
Example:
- First lbs. in group ships for $20, each additional lbs. in group ships for $1.
- One product weighing 3 lbs. and one product weighting 1 lbs. from the group are in an order. 4 lbs total, so $20 + $1 + $1 + $1 = $23.
-
Percentage of Product Price w/ minimum and maximum charge.
This rule type is a great shorthand for charging shipping according to the product price, without having to program a large price table.
You can also specifiy a minimum and a maximum shipping charge.
The total product price only considers the products within an order that are part of the product group this rule applies to.
Example:
- 10% of product price, with a $10 minimum, and a $100 maximum.
- $5 worth of product from the group is ordered. 10% is $0.50, so the minimum $10 is charged.
- $150 worth of product from the group is ordered. 10% is $15, so $15 is charged.
- $1,500 worth of prodcut from the group is ordered. 10% is $150, so the maximum $100 is charged.
-
