You can use the app to set-up shipping rates for products that ship in their own box.
For example, you can set-up a rate with a Package Setting of "Up to 1 Item" with a box size 18x18x18.
So if someone orders 5 of those items, the app will calculate a rate for 5 separate packages with a dimension 18x18x18.
You can set-up multiple groups, each group containing similarly sized items, and each group's rates having a different package setting.
The app's blended rates will then add up each product groups' rates together.
At a glance:
Add new product group for Large Items
- Click Add Product Group
- Give the product group a label
- In the Add Products section search for and select all the large items, and Save Product Group
Add carrier rate to the group, edit the Package Settings to "Up to 1 Item"
- Add Rates to the new group.
- Add Shipping Rate to the appropriate zone
- Click the tab for the carrier you want to add a rate from, select the carrier rate, and click Next
- Enter your Ship From Postal Code
- In the Package Settings section, click Edit on the Default package
- Change number of items from 1000 to 1
- Enter the dimensions of the package, and Update Package
- Save the rate
Reconfigure your existing rates into the Default Group
Because rates from the app can't combine or modify your existing rates, you will need to take your existing rates and re-configure them within the Default group in the app, so we can show the combined rate when someone order both regular products and the large products.
- Go back to the Product Groups tab
- Add Rates to the Default group
- Add Shipping Rate to the appropriate zone
- Click the tab for the carrier you want to add a rate from
- Select the carrier rate you want to add, and click Next
- Enter your ship from postal code
- Leave the default package settings, or just update the dimensions of the package leaving the number of items at 1000
- Save the Rate
